**Description**


Under the general direction of the I/E Maintenance Superintendent, the **Instrument Maintenance Supervisor** coordinates and supervises all assigned maintenance work including projects and turnarounds and arranges for materials and services for scheduled and unscheduled work, in a manner to assure safety, efficiency, environmental compliance, cost effectiveness, and operating plan compliance. Assures all maintenance and project work complies with all applicable safety, engineering, safe practice standards, laws, regulations and meets Company policies, procedures and specifications.


**Responsibilities may include: **



  • Participating in the safety process. Performing audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable governmental regulations and company policies and procedures

  • Consulting with Technical Services and Reliability Groups to ensure that maintenance work meets the requirements of mechanical, process, metallurgical and environmental engineering, codes, policies and standards

  • Working with operations and other groups to fully understand the scope, priority and needed timing for instrumentation and analyzer maintenance work orders

  • Supervising daily and turnaround company and contractor instrument mechanics including analyzer personnel

  • Coordinating with Environmental Department and Operations to ensure reliable measurement of all reportable process variables

  • Analyzing problems, approve action plans, assigns tasks and ensures corrective action is carried out on highly technical problems

  • Providing technical assistance and direction for instrument mechanics

  • Reviewing, preparing and executing maintenance work orders to ensure work is completed in a safe, environmentally compliant, timely and cost effective manner

  • Coordinating with and makes recommendations to the department superintendent and scheduler regarding projected maintenance needs and requirements to facilitate scheduling and manpower resource utilization

  • Coordinating activities between crafts, supervisors, engineering, and operations to ensure repairs are completed in a safe, environmentally compliant, timely and cost effective manner

  • Coordinating and implementing complex multi craft jobs to ensure they are completed in a safe, environmentally compliant, timely and cost effective manner

  • Working with scheduler to redistribute manpower as needed for emergency work requests

  • Initiating requisitions for required materials, tools and contractor services as required

  • Contacting and coordinating outside contractors as required for a wide variety of services


**Qualifications**

**Basic/Required: **



  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 5 or more years of experience working as either journeyman instrument mechanic or instrument mechanic supervisor in refining or related industry

  • 5 or more years of experience in troubleshooting, identification, and correction of equipment problems

  • Working knowledge of process control instrumentation and analyzers in an industrial environment

  • This position requires a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) be obtained to gain access to secure areas of Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facilities and vessels. Visit the TSA websitehttps://twicprogram.tsa.dhs.gov/TWICWebApp/for more information.)

  • Ability and willingness to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:


o Work overtime, including holidays and weekends as business needs dictate

o Work at elevated heights or in confined spaces

o Work around chemicals including acids/bases

o Work near large, hot, high-speed machines

o Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear/eye protection)

o Work outside in harsh weather conditions

o Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat

o Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly

o Read technical procedures and materials in English

**Preferred: **



  • Refining or petrochemical experience

  • Turnaround experience

  • Familiar with ISA standards for installation and testing of instrumentation

  • Proficient computer skills: Excel, Word, and SAP (or ability to learn quickly)

  • Self-motivated, proactive, creative, and results oriented. Candidate needs to be able to adapt to changing priorities to support Operations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to interact with all levels of the organization, diverse groups and people

  • Prior experience as an Instrument or Analyzer Mechanic troubleshooting and repairing process control equipment
