The Pricing Principal reporting into the Strategic Pricing Analysis (SPA) Senior Manager will be responsible for identifying and supporting global price optimization opportunities. This position will also act as a business partner to Domestic and International Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams to identify, promote, and implement pricing and contract operations best practices. The Principal will also be responsible for pricing and sales performance reporting.


Boston Scientific is currently undergoing an initiative to expand and enhance pricing capabilities worldwide. The Pricing Principal will support the various work streams under this initiative and must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively participate in a challenging, high-paced, yet highly visibility project role. The right candidate has a wide-range of experiences and expertise in analytics, applies comprehensive knowledge to resolve complex issues in creative ways, has full knowledge of other related disciplines such as sales and marketing, uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationships, and can be recognized as an expert on the team.


Responsibilities:



  • Support projects by developing and executing well-structured work plans, facilitating project and sponsor meetings by leveraging Lean Business Process tools/ methodologies and Project Management tools/methodologies

  • Responsible for ownership of the SPA Reporting Framework from design and implementation through report generation, support, and maintenance



  • Coordinate, validate, and integrate source data from multiple data sources such as data warehouses and proprietary Revenue Management systems

  • Process level support in the form of governance, a reporting publication schedule, requirement documents, metric definitions, and training documents



  • Partner with managers in Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Information Systems to understand business needs and objectives; gather requirements and work with various teams to create meaningful reports, dashboards, and tools

  • Partner with business stakeholders and external constituents to develop and produce ad hoc analytic assignments. Candidate must be able to translate business questions into insightful analytics

  • Assist with analyzing business efficiency and effectiveness by process mapping, assessing as-is metrics, quantifying project findings, benchmarking performance, and synthesizing results. Recommend and implement methods to resolve root causes and sustain improvements through metric and control monitoring.

  • Produce monthly and quarterly Pricing and Sales Performance reporting. This includes the compilation and dissemination of reporting and executive summaries of the results.




The ideal candidate poses the following experiences and skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred



  • 5-8 years pricing experience required.

  • Financial, sales analysis, or sales operations experience in the Life Sciences space preferred

  • Technical experience in several of the following areas:



  • Expert level Microsoft Excel, Access, and Project

  • Exposure to Model N or similar Revenue Management systems

  • SAP Business Objects, QlikView

  • Visual Basic skills a plus



  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including business process and data analytics. Strong general knowledge of other accounting and finance areas beyond revenue.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, optimize, and integrate analytic solutions of a complex nature across an organization

  • Works with service-oriented mentality to ensure that analyses, dashboards, and reporting are delivered correctly and on time

  • Ability to correlate results from data analysis to sales processes and drive continuous improvement.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks across various user groups, with minimal direction from management.

  • Strong self-direction and initiative; willingness to take complete ownership over specific activities

  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks

  • Process orientation with strong attention to detail

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience presenting to business management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to influence co-workers from multiple departments and regions, and to communicate with sales executives

  • Ability to coach other members in the organization

  • Ability to move into a management role within 1-3 year time frame

  • Team player, committed to quality process and outcomes

  • Willingness to travel (domestic and International)




Interview Process: Candidates must -


  • Present a portfolio of sample projects they led from inception to implementation and speak to:

    • Methodologies and tools used to plan and manage the projects

    • Issues/risks encountered and actions taken to mitigate

    • Change management approach

    • Communication / Presentation cadences

    • Metrics used to diagnose issues and govern the project

    • Final benefits and outcomes of the projects



  • Participate in an assessment of Excel skills

  • Participate in a live exercise of translating commercial issues / questions into meaningful analytic designs
