Position Title: Team Leader II Logistics

IDS Logistics has a need for a 1st shift cell leader at our Marlboro, MA facility. This position has overall responsibility for receiving, shipping, and point-to-point material movements in a fast paced and dynamic environment. The individual in thi s role will manage a team to ensure material movements meet contractual quality, cost, and delivery requirements by p lanning, organizing, and directing the flow of material. This individual will also need to ensure a safe work environment and will be actively engaged in safety improvement projects.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


This role requires daily interaction with other teams, programs, and Business Units to maintain and meet organizational goals and objectives. These groups include: technical support, manufacturing/test/design engineering, maintenance, production control, finance and the program management office. Achieving/exceeding cost, quality, delivery, safety goals and identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies are critical performance criteria for this position.


Individual will lead a group of bargaining unit employees who are respo nsible for mater ial handling duties related to receiving, shipping, and site specific material movements. This front line leader is accountable for results: on-time delivery, safety, security, mission assurance, and financial results to budget.


The position supports deployment of manufacturing operations strategy, control systems, tools and metrics to accurately measure progress, identify root causes of issues related to material flow, manage capacity, quality and staffing issues and develop/implement corrective action plans.


In addition to the above, responsibilities include:



  • Workforce planning and forecasting

  • Employee hiring and training

  • Time and attendance tracking

  • Area layout and flow management

  • Capital identification and control of overhead expenses

  • Ensuring the enforcement of company policies and procedures

    Basic Qualifications:



  • BS/BA degree

  • Minim um of 4 years of operations, cell lead, planning / supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Logistics Execution in an Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project , Word)

  • Experience with technical / engineering documents

  • Previous leadership experience in manufacturing / planning / scheduling / operations or similar environments

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma or other similar process improvement methodologies

  • Able to obtain a DoD government clearance

    Desired Qualifications:



  • APICS or ISM certification

  • Demonstrated Lean Experience

  • Demonstrated Six Sigma Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and business skills

  • Education: BS in Business, Supply Chain or other technical related field

  • Ability to lead in a team-based, customer focused, safety conscious manufacturing environment and make decisions with minimal supervision

  • Solid People Management Skills - Goal setting, Delegation, Coaching, Motivating, conflict management

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and solid interpersonal skills; uses appropriate levels of energy to create enthusiasm

  • Previous experience supervising bargaining unit employees

  • Manufacturing experience in the aerospace/defense industry
