Account Manager - Energy, Gas and Welding Industry

Pittsburgh, PA OH Area

We are seeking a dynamic, driven, results focused sales professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to serve as our Sales Account Manager in Pittsburgh, PA, OH and surrounding areas. This position will focus on increasing our customer base in addition to maintaining existing business accounts and working with our retail stores, as well as calling on key accounts to penetrate the market. The position requires someone who is going to actively pursue new business via solution selling, competitive pricing, and a variety of product offerings.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Submits sales activity report, including weekly itineraries and other reports as requested, to District Manager on a regular schedule.

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from various sources.

  • Actively pursues and acquires, on an on-going basis, new and competitive accounts with emphasis on gases business and product sale agreements.

  • Work with functional product sales specialists (safety, bulk, specialty gas, medical) to grow sales within territory among new and existing customers.

  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or performs same with customers by phone.

  • Displays or demonstrates product to customers and emphasizes features.

  • Acts as liaison between customer and company with regard to pricing, products, delivery information, payments, service, and inquiries.

  • Ensures that customer inquiries related to billing problems, cylinder balances, order status, time of delivery, etc. are promptly and courteously handled, providing follow-up as necessary.

  • Completes and submits sales-related paperwork, including call reports, cylinder audits, month-end reports, expense reports, mileage reports, etc., accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Provides market and competitor information to supervisor.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Related Field.

  • 3-5 years aggressive sales experience, familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas / welding supply sales a plus.

  • Proven experience in solution selling concepts.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Able to travel throughout the territory, some overnight travel required.

  • Must have reliable, appropriate transportation and good driving record.


COMPUTER SKILLS:


  • Proficient / strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and SAP.


COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:


  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.

  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and employees.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.

  • Demonstrated planning skills and outstanding personal relationship skills.

  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills

  • The successful candidate takes ownership and creates solutions and enjoys working “hands-on” in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.

  • Solid listening & problem solving skills and able to work collaboratively, independently, and under pressure to meet deadlines.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent’s.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
PHYSICAL ABILITY

  • Extended periods of standing and/or sitting; Regular phone work with use of speaker phone or headset.

  • Repetitive arm motions necessary to use the phone, computer, and motor vehicle.

  • Ability to move/ lifts materials weighing 50-60 pounds.

  • Ability to drive for extensive local/regional travel to customer locations.

  • Eyesight must be sufficient to view items working on the computer, walking the branch location to interact with employees, customers on a regular basis.
