Job Description


Job Summary:

The Manager – Business Administration PSE AM Equity is responsible for all business administrative aspects of the growing equity portfolio of the Business Unit, in close cooperation with the BU’s equity team and global performance controller. He/she owns the budget and forecast process (incl. analysis and management commentary) for the equity segment and is responsible for all business administrative aspects in the due diligence phase for new equity investments (incl. IFRS and US GAAP accounting concepts). He/she interfaces with the accounting teams to develop and ensure accurate and timely booking entries for the equity portfolio.


Responsibilities:



  • Provide support and single point of contact to the Head of Equity and other Sr. Managers related to the assigned portfolio. This includes financial / operational support and financial reviews related to the budget and forecast, support during due diligence phase and as needed

  • Conduct due diligence related to all business administrative and accounting topics for new equity investments, including accounting diligence, financial model review and analysis of material differences between US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Manage relationship to third party advisors as needed.

  • Prepare timely and accurately, Annual Budgets / Monthly Forecasts for the assigned portfolio. This includes detailed analysis of fluctuations and variances as compared to the actual results or previous forecasts. It also includes the data entry into the HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) reporting tool.

  • Analyze and monitor the Operating Expenses (SG&A) for the respective business unit. Provide an over/under report to Head of equity.

  • Develop and monitor financial / operational metrics to measure the business segment’s profitability and efficiency. Communicate to management recommended solutions for problem areas.

  • Maintain and update planning models, tools and processes to reflect current and future changes to the business as new information is acquired.

  • Interact proactively with respective Portfolio Accountant to exchange information about the expected results as compared to the actual results.

  • Participate in the Monthly Financial Review of results. This includes a write-up of forecasted versus actual results, detailing material variances.

  • Assist in the preparation of the materials needed for the Board of Directors and Management meetings and develop other ad hoc reports as requested by SFS local management as well as the Corporate Headquarters (SFS GmbH or S’Corp.)

  • Review and update procedures and controls (SOA/ICS) as it pertains to the related portfolio and area of responsibility.

  • Willing to assume and complete special projects and / or other assignments as delegated by management.


Qualifications (include education):

  • Education: B.S. / B.A. in Accounting or Finance, CPA and/or MBA preferable but not required.

  • Experience: Seven or more years of accounting/finance experience (at least two years in an audit firm in a capacity of supporting equity investments for Energy projects, asset valuation or accounting due diligence). Additional experience in accounting and controlling of minority investments at a fund or equity firm would be of advantage.

  • Strong working knowledge in accounting, both US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Must have an experience or knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). SAP General Ledger & Hyperion (HFM) knowledge is a plus. Ability to data input into various software systems

  • Ability to run various reports from different software system


Required Competencies:

Accounting Skills – Strong accounting knowledge, able to identify major differences between US GAAP and IFRS and a subject matter expert (E.g. Cash Flow Hedge Accounting, Embedded Derivatives, Energy Options, Property Plant and Equipment, Bank Loans, etc.)

Functional/Technical Skills – Strong computer / application skills - technical knowledge (Financial Services) and skills (computer) to do the job at a high level of accomplishment. Possesses strong understanding of the financial service industry products and services.

Accountability/Ownership - Acknowledgment and assume of responsibility for one’s actions within the scope of the role or employment position and encompassing the obligation to report, explain and answer with respect to those actions and the resulting consequences.
