BENGALURU: Former SAP India managing director Anirban Dey, who had a quiet exit last June amid a whistleblowing episode at the Germany-headquartered company's India operations, has joined Infosys -- marking yet another top-level hire from the German software supplier to Vishal Sikka's core leadership team at India's second largest software exporter.

Dey announced his appointment at Bengaluru-based Infosys on Twitter and has also updated his profile on LinkedIn.

"It's an honor @edge_verve @Infosys," Dey tweeted three hours ago.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Dey is joining Infosys as global head of the company's Edge suite of products at the company's products and platforms subsidiary EdgeVerve. He will in all likelihood report to Michael Reh - another top Germany-based SAP executive who was poached by Sikka last year who currently oversees EdgeVerve and Finacle, the company's core banking product.

His LinkedIn profile also says that he will be "responsible for Products, Services, Sales, Quality, Planning and Marketing for Edge Products."

Dey's appointment comes at a time when Infosys under Sikka is attempting to revamp the EdgeVerve business.

Last year, Infosys had spun off its products and platforms business, renamed it EdgeVerve and appointed Infosys veteran Sanjay Purohit to head the unit. Since then Infosys has undertaken an organizational reshuffle and put Reh in charge of EdgeVerve, with Purohit overseeing the company's Lodestone unit and consulting business.

Since taking over as Infosys CEO last August, Sikka has made a string of top-level hires from SAP, including Reh, current M&A head Ritika Suri, platforms head Abdul Razack and architecture and technology head Navin Budhiraja.

Under Sikka's watch, Infosys is undergoing its biggest transformation in years as it looks to differentiate itself from other software exporting rivals and transform itself into a next-generation software company amid a rapidly changing technology landscape. Infosys could not be reached for a comment immediately.
