@ a< href="">Sap RSS News

Geauga Park Districts annual Saps-A-Risin! returns March 15 and 22 from noon to 4 p.m. each day.

The hands-on, educational, inspirational and celebrational program will take place at Swine Creek Reservation, 16004 Hayes Road in Middlefield and Parkman townships.

It will offer visitors a taste of how maple sugaring has evolved, then a taste of the sap itself, according to a press release. Plus, for the first time in a decade, there will be a horse-drawn sap sled in the sugar bush!

Attendees can enjoy historical interactions with costumed interpreters, gather sap during a stroll through the sugar bush, see and learn how sap is boiled in the sugarhouses evaporator, enjoy a sample taste of syrup, then warm up in the lodge with live music, woodcarving demonstrations, maple stirs and maple popcorn.

Registration is not required for this program. The lodge, history trail and sugarhouse are fully wheelchair/stroller accessible, but sap gathering is off trail.
