Finance Manager, Field Sales - Boehringer Ingelheim - Ridgefield, CT

The Finance Manager, Field Sales works directly with the field based and internal Field Force organization and support departments in Prescription Medicine to help analyze and provide financial guidance and decision making support for expenditures and investments to help drive performance in the market place. Recent anticipated new product launches, additional business segments, more in depth as well as more complex financial information requires that this role can work independently and interact with senior level management. Additionally, the Finance Manager, Field Sales has ancillary marketing controlling responsibility and works directly with the Prescription Medicine brand teams to help analyze and provide financial guidance and provide decision-making support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Proactively support Field Force cost center managers with the development of full year Budgets, Previews and Expectations, monthly Outlooks and 5-year Long Term Forecasts for expenditures with guidance from Supervisor.


Proactively provides Product Management with similar support respective of promotional and sample related investments.


Review and analyze monthly expenditures and review output with Supervisor. Assist cost center managers with investigation and resolution of unusual and/or significant items. Develop and issue appropriate routine reporting to assist business partners with expense analysis to ensure good financial control of full year spending.


Perform cost/benefit evaluations of all major expenditures/initiatives in order to assist with providing business partners with financial decision support.


Responsible for relevant financial data integrity (input and maintenance) of the systems and processes used by PM Controlling and internal/external Field Force cost center managers including SAP, BPC, BW and PEOPLE.


Provide accruals and projections for month-end close. Periodic review and accrual account reconciliations.


Periodically review and improve financial reporting processes to ensure that cost center managers have access to relevant, reliable and timely information.


Complete ad hoc financial analysis, conduct financial training as needed, prepare presentations for Senior Management and perform project work as requested.


Requirements:

Bachelor degree in business, finance or accounting or related field with four (4) to six plus (6+) years business related experience


MBA highly desired with two (2) to five (5) years business experience.


One (1) to three (3) years project leadership/management experience


Business acumen with analytical and problem solving skills


Good understanding of controlling principles


Knowledge of Company operations and pharmaceutical industry


Prior experience providing financial support to Field Sales desired


Solid understanding of and experience with financial business processes; Budgeting/planning, financial reporting, accounting


Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism


Advanced computer/systems skills – Excel, PowerPoint, SAP (R/3, BPC, PEOPLE, BW,)


Multiple priorities with tight deadlines, multiple business partners (40+ who manage headcount of 3,500+) providing high level of, accuracy and timeliness of information.


Multiple computer systems and software tools.


Manage and monitor large expense budgets ($750MM+) which contain significant discretionary spending. Ability to work independently and interact with all levels of the organization is vital for this position to succeed.


Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Requires a commitment to tight deadlines at each month-end and at year-end and during planning cycles, which may involve extended hours.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.


Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background


Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)


Must be 18 years of age or older
