The University of Sharjah said it has signed up for SAP’s University Alliances program (UAP) aimed at boosting the students' skills and job prospects.

The university is a comprehensive academic institution with 14 colleges offering 80 programs at the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels. Its president and founder is His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Supporting existing business, engineering and IT programs, the globally-acclaimed UAP provides students with hands-on experience of key technology solutions.

UAP member schools gain access to the SAP Business Suite family of solutions enabling students to put classroom theory into practice through demonstrations, problem solving exercises, case studies, and research programs.

University of Sharjah students will gain theoretical and practical insight into how technology can empower businesses to optimize key processes such as operations and supply chain management, accounting and controlling, human capital management, project planning, plant and materials management, and sales and distribution.

Commenting on the move, Prof Samy A. Mahmoud, the chancellor, said: “SAP is one of the world’s most respected and innovative companies. Their global and regional track record of unlocking potential and preparing students for successful careers is extremely strong, and we expect to achieve great things together."

UAP currently counts 52 members across the Mena region, incorporating thousands of students and 250 trained lecturers. As part of its regional growth plans for the region, SAP plans to significantly increase alliances with the universities and schools within the next three years.

“Education remains a key priority for SAP, and a key part of that is ensuring that the next generation of graduates are ready and able to make an immediate impact in the job market,” said Marita Mitschein, SAP Training & Development Institute managing director and growth plan lead for SAP Mena.

“The UAP gives the University of Sharjah a new educative dimension, providing faculty members with the tools and resources to illustrate how state of the art technologies can enable integrated business processes and strategic thinking”, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
