The South Asia Partnership media coordinator has said that the regional correspondents of different media organisations have to suffer great hardships during coverage due to lack of facilities and non-cooperation of the bureaucracy, even then their reporting always causes betterment in the society.

Addressing a seminar on 'Media Reporting', Ms Farzana Mumtaz added that the issues faced by women and neglected classes of the society were often resolved due to their reporting.

The seminar was held under the auspices of Awaz Forum. She announced to form Awaz Journalists Forum in Toba district. She urged the journalists to prefer the coverage of real issues. Speakers including Shahbaz Sarwar, Press Club President Manzoor Naz and other journalists of the district said that life insurance of journalists was need of the hour while issues of proper wages and residential colonies should also be noticed.

Later, speakers in another meeting told participants that there were at least 1.1 million women whose names had not yet been registered as voters. Sarwar said that under the voice and accountability programme, SAP had started projects in 10 union councils of the district where Awaz Village Forum had been set up with the participation of farmers, women and minorities. He claimed that every forum had equal representation of women like men. The meeting was also addressed by Azra Roohi, Rafia Ashfaq Salomi, Bilqees Javed, Assia Khanna and Sumaira Athur.
