Muchemi Wambugu produced the golf round of his life to win the 3rd annual SAP Corporate Golf Day at the Karen Country Club.

Muchemi, a handicap-23 golfer from Limuru Country Club, went around the Karen golf course with poise, churning out a mix of pars and bogeys to post a total of 13-over par gross and a massive 46 stable ford points to beat a large field of 169-golfers with a huge seven point margin.

Wambugu was extremely hot on the opening nine holes, posting an unbelievable score of 4-over gross (26 points) which included a string of pars from the opening par-4 first hole to the par-4 fourth and a birdie on the toughest hole at Karen, the long par-4 sixth.

Wambugu started his back nine on a shaky note, dropping three shots on the tricky par-4 10th and again spraying his drive way left on the par-4 12th, one of Karen's signature holes. He quickly made amends, making a massive birdie on the tough par-3 16th and finishing with 20 points for a total of 46 points.

"The opening holes at Karen have never been kind to me. This time round, however, I was equal to the challenge," Wambugu said. "The second nine was tough and I had a few moments where my nerves got the better of me. Luckily, I was also playing in good company as my partners Kange Saiti, Ann-Marie Burugu and Sam Mwirigi were in great form and as a result we won the top team prize as well."

The battle for second place was fiercely fought with SRS Manian, Wanjira Kireri, Jane Njau and Louis Otieno all finishing with 39 points. Ultimately, it was Manian who was judged to have posted a better score over the last nine-holes and the runner up prize went to him. The top team comprised champion Muchemi Wambugu, Ann Marie Burugu, Kange Saiti and Sam Mwirigi with 37 points.
