SAP Co-CEO Snabe to Join Siemens Board - Wall Street Journal

BERLIN—Siemens AG, the German technology and engineering group, is set to appoint Jim Hagemann Snabe, the co-chief executive of business software maker SAP AG, to its supervisory board in a move aimed at bolstering the Munich-based company's prowess in software, a person familiar with the situation said.

"The future for Siemens is in the convergence of software and hardware," the person said. "The choice of Snabe is to strengthen the focus of the supervisory board on technology. We are not top notch in all areas and we have to improve ourselves in certain technology areas again."

Mr. Snabe is expected to be formally appointed to the Siemens board at its board meeting Wednesday in Berlin. He fills the seat left vacant by Josef Ackermann, the former Deutsche Bank AG chief executive, who resigned from the board earlier this month after clashing with board chairman Gerhard Cromme over the dismissal at the end of July of former Chief Executive Peter Loescher after Siemens repeatedly missed profit targets.

Mr. Loescher was replaced by Joe Kaeser, a 30-year Siemens veteran, who was chief financial officer at the time.

The SAP co-CEO is expected to leave the Walldorf, Germany-based software giant's management board at the end of the year and take a post on the company's supervisory board.

Siemens is also expected Wednesday to appoint Ralf Thomas, a longtime ally and company insider, as chief financial officer.
