Recommind has received a $15 million Series C round of funding from Palo Alto-based SAP Ventures. The data management technology company automates legal discovery of massive troves of unstructured documents.

Co-founded in 2000 by CEO Bob Tennant, the San Francisco firm has gained fame for its ability to sift quickly through human-generated information such as email, word-processing documents, voicemail and social media.

Customers include large corporations, government agencies and big law firms, and it has been expanding its product portfolio to include information governance and analytics.

SAP Ventures Managing Director Gaurav Tewari will join Recommind's board of directors.
