Some say, with the likes of Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, and Maria Sharapova, there is already plenty of power in women's tennis- it's about to get more powerful.

Powerful in terms of analytics and technology as the WTA announced on Monday afternoon at the Western & Southern Open in Mason, Ohio that SAP has signed a global sponsorship agreement with the WTA.

SAP will work with the WTA to change the sport when it comes to engaging fans, developing tools to help players and coaches and provide better service to the media when it comes to stats and real-time information.

SAP will also be a sponsor of the WTA Championships.

"Through our cooperation with SAP, we aim to provide revolutionary analysis for our fans, players, coaches and media," WTA Chairman & CEO Stacey Allaster explained. "We are thrilled to be teaming with a global, innovative leader like SAP as international companies continue investing in women's tennis."

Steve Peck, senior vice president of Global Strategic Initiatives for SAP AG said he's excited these partnership came together.

"We will provide data to better engage fans," said Peck. "Fans are thirsty for data."

Both entities agree that this provides a fantastic place for SAP to show its commitment to the sport on a global scale, and help the WTA. SAP is working with the WTA to develop solutions that truly enhance and grow the sport, focusing on on-court player performance, and the two players in attendance at Monday's press conference both agreed that the sample stats they have seen produced by SAP could be a big help.

"Our technology is transforming sports and entertainment around the world and we look forward to working with the WTA to help players and coaches to perform at a higher level and engage fans like never before," offered up Peck.

Players, coaches, tennis fans, and the media are demanding more stats and analytics in real-time and is appears SAP is working hard to fill this need.

Great to see the WTA and SAP joining forces.

The WTA's sponsorship portfolio continues to expand with six new sponsors in the past three years. This includes the signing of Xerox as a global partner in February of 2013. Also, Singapore was recently announced as the host of the year-end WTA Championships for 2014 to 2018.
